With its complete infrastructure facilities and pleasant environment, the university covers a total area of 276.5 hectares, including the 52.7-hectare newly extended campus area. It consists of 21 colleges offering 71 undergraduate specialties under 10 disciplinary branches, which contains 13 key State-level and Provincial-level disciplines, 7 State-level specialties and 15 Provincial-level specialties with distinct features. It has 2 centers for post-doctoral studies, 6 doctoral programs, 100 master’s programs. Besides, Yanbian University has a Center for Inter-Korean Studies, a Key Laboratory of Natural Resources of Changbai Mountain and Functional Molecules, Center for Bohai Culture Studies, a center for fine beef cattle selection and breeding of Jilin Province’s universities as well as 5 provincial-level teaching experiment centers.

Currently, studying at 21 schools in the multicultural family are more than 24,000 full-time students, among whom are more than 600 international students from Korea, USA, Japan, Russia, Africa and other 34 foreign countries. In virtue of our university’s advantages, we provide international students with advantaged language learning environment and excellent living condition. Since Yanbian University is located at the capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Chinese and Korean are common in everyday speech, so most people living here are bilingual. For international students, especially for those from western countries, it is definitely a favourable environment for learning Chinese as well as a unique atmosphere for learning Korean according to students’ own interests. Therefore, international students can not only communicate in both Chinese and Korean with other students to exchange learning experience in campus, but also practice these two languages anytime, anywhere outside the campus. Yanbian University is a comprehensive university endowed with distinct ethnic characteristics. It was founded in 1949 at Yanji, the capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province. Bearing its motto of “truth, virtue, and integration” in the mind, Yanbian University through decades of unremitting efforts has been chosen as a key institution supported by the State“211Project”, a strongly backed university in China’s western development campaign, and a key university jointly supported by both the Ministry of Education and Jilin Province. On May 13, 2011, the largest campus extension project was successfully completed, which realized the purpose of focused schooling and resource integration as well as improved the administration efficiency.
